"Merry Christmas 2013" Layout

Happy Monday everyone!!!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends!

Today I am up on the
sharing a layout I created inspired by this month's
Sketch Challenge
Loved that the "Stash" element of the Sketch Challenge for this month was to use up some of the older product in your stash.
Well, it's that time of year to make room for some of the upcoming CHA releases and the scraps and papers I had left from WRMK's "Peppermint Twist" 2011 collection, were perfect for these sweet photos of my great-nephews.
I had to scale down the elements of the sketch to enable me to use the large 12 x 12 die cut, which worked out just fine.
Of course I loved working with the sketch, mainly because it was quick and easy and the other reason, I designed it! LOL

The challenge ends tonight, but make sure you stop by for our sketch challenge next month at
Scrap Our Stash.   Each month starting in January we will be featuring a Guest Sketch Artist along with a sketch created by the artist, exclusively for Scrap Our Stash!
And...the first of each month we also host a Stash Challenge!

Basket Full of Cuteness

Hello there!
It is Tuesday and time for Ten Things... at
This week the design team was challenged to create projects using BAGS!
For my project I mounted my photo on a 4.25"x 5.5" Kraft Bag, inserted a tag and a cardstock sticker journaling card inside of the bag.  I also folded down the the top half of a smaller kraft bag and placed over the edge of the top of my page, inserted a tag and created an embellishment cluster using a deccorative brad, twine and a layered sticker.
This layout was also inspired by the following challenges:
"All About Our Guys Challenge" at Scrap Our Stash
"Use Your Dies" Challenge at Scrap it Girl
(Triangles & Tags cut with my Cricut)
"Anything Goes" ~ Sketches4All
The design of my layout was inspired by the May 23 sketch below from Elle's Studio:
Check out the Practical Scrappers blog and see how the design team came up with various ways to use bags.

Practical Scrappers: 10 Things To Do With BURLAP!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

This week for 10 Things Tuesday at Practical Scrappers, the challenge is to use BURLAP! I have been purchasing and adding various burlap items to my scrap stash for the past year, but have not used a lot of it. I love the texture that it adds to layouts, although it makes a mess when cutting.  And... I have discovered I am allergic to it. I itch constantly while working with it.

For this challenge I adhered a 6 x 12 piece of burlap to a 6 x 12 piece of cardstock that was adhesive on one side.  This made cutting the burlap a lot easier and gave me cleaner edges when I cut my tag and banner piece.   I then sewed around the edges of the banner and tag.  I punched a star in the middle of the small kraft bag so the inserted tag would show through the bag, added a button and twine.
I layered the burlap banner with a smaller banner cut from a piece patterned paper and also added a punch border, button and twine to create a small bunting for the upper right hand corner of the layout!.

The design of my layout was inspired by this Susan Stringfellow sketch:

So Stinkin' Cute

Happy Tuesday Everyone!
Sharing a layout I created using a photo of one of my adorable great-nephews.  This layout was inspired by Scrap Our Stash "Anything Fuzzy" Challenge, Eleven Things You Can Do With Heart Punches at Practical Scrappers and the Material Challenge at Scrap It Girl

For the "fuzzy" items, I used the striped paper which is flocked and there is also flocking on the chipboard journaling embellie.  After creating the burlap flower for the material challenge, I noticed there was a lot of fuzz on my working surface and it dawned on me that burlap, although it has a rough texture, it is a "fuzzy' fiber.

I created the butterfly by using the MS "Heartbeat" deep edge punch.  I glued two of the larger hearts together to create the wings and then added a thin  piece of chipboard to the back of one of the smaller hearts and placed it on top of the butterfly where I adhered the 'wings" together.  I added fiber from the burlap to the butterfly for the "antennas"!
Supplies:
WRMK "Tres Elegant" Collection
Thickers
Lillibee Designs Alphas
Thanks for stopping by...enjoy the rest of your week!
